Social networks will be like air

Renowned analyst Charlene Lee from Forrester Research spoke at the Graphing Social Patterns West conference with an opening speech. She drew a fairly clear picture of the future, in which the Internet and social networks will become the basic foundation for all relationships in society. This work is part of a global research on the development of technology for ten years to come ( slides , theses ).

The main evolutionary change will be that after five to ten years, people will not need to go to special sites like Facebook or LinkedIn to chat. Instead, social networks will become like air: they will surround us everywhere and will be available at any time.

From a technological point of view, the idea of a “ubiquitous social network” has four necessary components: 1) universal digital personalities (identity); 2) a single social graph; 3) social context for action; 4) social influence determines any business activity.

Such a future awaits us based on the natural evolutionary development of technologies and platforms that already exist, provided universal and universal access to the Internet is provided, and also (which is much less likely) with trust between people, social networks and developers, who must agree to create single global system.
