Samsung introduced the second generation of "smart" watches - Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo

So far, the whole world is looking forward to what Samsung will surprise the mobile community at today's Unpacked 5 event in Barcelona ... but though, what’s the point here is waiting for what the new flagship Samsung GALAXY S5 will surprise, of course. So, on the eve of the big announcement, the company introduced the second generation of Samsung Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo smart watches.

Samsung Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo are hand wearable devices in a wrist watch format that notify the user about incoming messages, calls, emails and reminders. Both devices have a wide range of applications, for example, to control a TV or set-top box using WatchON Remote and an integrated IrLED sensor. In case you forget your smartphone at home, this regrettable moment will not leave you without music: it is enough to put on Bluetooth headphones and enjoy your favorite tracks on the go through smart watches.
Also, new items can boast a large selection of fitness applications for sports in real time (after all, sports are now ours, especially after the Olympics). The watch will monitor heart rate and well-being, allowing the user to train as efficiently as possible and without harm to health. Perhaps the most key update in Samsung Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo is the fact that the new watches work on the Tizen platform. Unlike the previous line, which could only interact with the GALAXY Note 3 smartphone and the GALAXY Note 10.1 2014 Edition tablet, Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo will support work with dozens of GALAXY mobile devices.
Despite the fact that the new “smart” watches have got a less capacious 300 mAh battery (against the 315 mAh battery, which the first generation possessed), the duration of their work has increased many times, namely up to 2-3 days in active mode of use.
The camera on the updated line of watches is now not placed on the strap, but on the case. Changed the position and control button clock: now it is under the screen, and not on the right side of the device.
Users can choose one of the strap colors: charcoal black, golden brown and bright orange colors are available for Samsung Gear 2, charcoal black, gray and bright orange are for Samsung Gear 2 Neo. Screensavers can also be personalized.
