The Bank of Russia considers bitcoins as a financial pyramid

Timur Batyrev, head of the department of the national payment system at the Central Bank, says that Bitcoin is a financial pyramid :

There are people who are ready to part with the money based on easy profit, and buy bitcoins. But there will be those people who will pay this profit.

In addition, the deputy head of the department, Andrei Sharayev, said that Bitcoin is not a security, since there are no assets behind it, but only time spent on mining.

Earlier, in the Russian Federation, Bitcoin was equated to “money substitutes”.

This is an official statement, which means that violations of the law, taking into account bitcoins, will be considered according to the rules of previously adopted laws, as well as financial pyramids.
