Teleconference with Richard Stallman

On March 5, a teleconference between Moscow, St. Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod and Yekaterinburg, organized by LinuxCenter.Ru with technical support from SvyazKomplekt, was successfully held. This event was dedicated to the visit of Richard Stallman to Russia, in connection with which the developers and users of free software from various cities were able to ask questions directly to the legendary personality on the air. It should be noted that communication with the founder of the free software movement began in absentia long before the teleconference, in connection with which the results of the discussion of various issues were voiced during this event. In particular, the director of LinuxCenter Pavel Frolov told everyone that, at the request of Richard Stallman and in order to more accurately follow the principles of free software, LinuxCenter.Ru was renamed GNU.LinuxCenter.Ru from March 5, which was greeted with enthusiasm by the project founder to create the GNU operating system used today in almost all distributions. Currently, new company logos are being developed, and the official website is available at gnu.linuxcenter.ru .

In total, about 100 people took part in the teleconference, including those who were present at the Moscow studio (on the territory of CNews news agency), representatives of the St. Petersburg LUG, GNU.LinuxCenter.Ru, developers, integrators and users of GNU / Linux operating systems from Yekaterinburg and Nizhny Novgorod (unfortunately, for technical reasons, participants of the teleconference in this city were deprived of video). Alexander Ponosov, invited to the meeting by Richard Stallman, also attended the teleconference. The full audio recording of this event in the OGG Vorbis format is available for free access (file size 101 MB, duration 1 hour 40 minutes).
