Web guru Tim Bray (Tim Bray) - one of the authors of the XML specifications and the author of
HTTP 451 status for web pages banned by censorship - since March 17 will no longer work in Google.
The reason is unique and very simple: Tim worked for four years remotely from his native Vancouver. And before being hired, and after that, he was offered to move to Silicon Valley to work at Google’s office. Tim Bray always politely refused. However, at some point, the management of his department informed the remote employee that it was impossible to continue in this mode.
Tim Bray understands Google’s position because working with remote employees is “not the model that Google decided to create.” He realizes that he would really be more efficient and would get more pleasure when working full-time in the office, but, unfortunately, he simply cannot move.

The web guru had no choice but to be fired.
Tim Bray explained that he could not move, because his "heart belongs to Canada and the green-gray Vancouver, to his not-so-busy, many-sided people." In addition, he considers the Bay Area a "overcrowded, racist, incestuous and prohibitively expensive area." So he was never drawn to California.
Tim is grateful to Google for four years of "super-interesting" work and a fair severance pay. He will miss Google and be part of the great power that Google represents and which, when used intelligently, can affect the entire Web.
Recall that Tim Bray went to the Google Android development team
in March 2010, which he then reported on his blog under the heading "On a territory without evil." Explaining the decision, Bray said that in a philosophical sense, his position coincides with the concept of Google’s business, including “I like the openness of Android for developers, a large set of interfaces, the open source spirit, strong Android support from Google, and an open market for applications.”
