Nokia Treasure Tag: smart tags guarding your stuff

Yesterday it was announced that the miniature device would soon be launched on the international market, on whose shoulders a great mission was entrusted: to help people not to forget about important things. Literally. All the details about the Nokia Treasure Tag are under the cut.

The Nokia Treasure Tag is a device measuring only 30x30x10 mm and weighing 10 grams, designed to remind the owners of Nokia Lumia smartphones of forgotten things. You can attach the device to a bag, keychain, or other item that is important to you.

The Nokia Treasure Tag smart tag has Bluetooth 4.0 wireless adapters (with support for Proximity Profile (PXP), Object Push profile (OPP) 1.1 and Find Me Profile (FMP)), an NFC microchip and a buzzer. Powered by a CR-2032 battery, which provides an average of 6 months of battery life during normal use.

In order to put Nokia Treasure Tag into active mode, it is enough to “link” it with a smartphone using NFC or Bluetooth. In the latter case, the automatic detection of the label is made using BT Smart technology (also known as BT LE).

Now, if the Nokia Lumia user leaves home, forgetting the item with the tag attached (in fact, the smartphone will lose touch with the Nokia Treasure Tag), both devices will start beeping.

To manage the Nokia Treasure Tag, a special application for Windows Phone has been released. In addition to the basic function of identifying and memorizing tags, it will be possible to control various modes and settings. For example, users will be able to manually activate the tag signal, or vice versa, turn off the sound alert. Also, using this application, you can deactivate the device or send it to "sleep mode".

If, however, the item with the attached tag was forgotten, and you do not remember where it was left, you can always find it on HERE cards or even using the LiveSight application of augmented reality - the system will tell you where the smartphone was last seen Treasure Tag.

The reverse scenario also works: if you forget where you left your smartphone, just press and hold the button on the Treasure Tag. If the phone is within a radius of 40 meters, then it will beep.

Nokia Lumia smartphones support working with four Nokia Treasure Tag tags at the same time, which is convenient if users have several frequently forgotten items.

Treasure Tag will be offered in four colors: white, black, yellow and blue. The cost and availability of new items on the Russian market will be announced later (approximately $ 30).

While the Nokia Treasure Tag is compatible with Nokia Lumia smartphones on Windows Phone 8 (updated to the Nokia Black version), third-party apps for Android and iOS are planned to be released soon.
