This tiny chip makes the internet 4 times faster.

At the moment, all profile companies are involved in the engineering race, as a result of which the Internet should become as accessible and faster as possible. And while Google is working to provide high speed directly to the PC users in certain cities and regions, IBM is working on technology that can make the entire Internet faster, reports Finly . The company has created a new chip, which allows speeds of up to 400 gigabits per second to be achieved, about four times faster than today's technologies do. In addition, he practically does not consume energy.

At this speed, a 2-hour film as UltraHD (about 160GB) will swing in a few seconds. “It only takes a few seconds to load 40,000 songs,” they say at IBM.

The chip is used in technologies that connect data centers, and not in ordinary users' computers or home routers. The latest version of the chip is just a prototype, so it’s not worth waiting for any changes in Internet speed in the very near future.

However, IBM reports that a contract has already been signed with the first client who agreed to test the chip, Semtech has become. This company is developing analog signal converters (for example, a radio signal) into digital signals, which can then be broadcast to the network.

Also interesting is that IBM is going to manufacture the chip for the first customer in the United States, at its semiconductor factory in East Fishkill. Recently went <arel = "nofollow" href = " www.businessinsider.com/yes-ibm-is-trying-to-sell-more-units-2014-2 "> rumors that IBM is looking for a buyer for this unit. A breakthrough in this technology and the first order for the chip will be able to help IBM keep its unit, or at least sell for more.
