As you may have guessed, we are talking about an internal UPS with an ISA interface, which provides reliable automatic backup of data from RAM to a hard disk in case of sudden power outages.

Inside, in the foam box, you can find the ISA card itself, the power cable for the motherboard, a 5.25 "diskette with software and a user manual.
Appearance.
The appearance of the Athen IPS Card is practically no different from the most common expansion cards for the ISA slot, only a battery attached with a metal bracket gives this device a light charm.
Small batteries always seem mimic compared to full-sized giants.
Athen IPS Card consists of two boards connected to a sandwich. If you remove the battery, you can divide the sandwich into two parts.
The battery, judging by the number on the sticker, was produced in 1990 and has long been turned into a useless rectangular parallelepiped. To replace it, you can use the DELTA DT 12012 battery with a voltage of 12V and a capacity of 1.2Ah.

The initial configuration of the device is carried out by dip-switches, which can be used to set the address of the I / O port for this card.

The Athen IPS Card hardware and software complex provides 100% backup of programs and data to the hard disk loaded into the computer’s RAM in case of power outages, as well as automatic restoration of the saved state of the programs and data to the RAM after the power supply is restored and the computer is turned on. Supports backup contents of additional (extended) and expanded (expanded) RAM, and even the contents of the cache memory (!) During power outages, with automatic recovery after the supply voltage.
Charging the internal battery is carried out while the computer is running, and does not require the connection of an additional charger.

We start Volkov Commander, and we open with the built-in editor any important document. We begin to depict a stormy activity, and then disconnect the system unit from the outlet.
A beep sounds, and if the monitor is still working (for example, it is powered by another, more powerful uninterruptible power supply), you can observe the following picture. The contents of RAM and cache is saved to the INS.DAT file on the hard disk that was specified during the installation of the software.
After completing the backup, the computer automatically shuts down.
We connect the system unit to the outlet, run. Enter the password if this feature was enabled during installation.
