Netvibes ginger

I have been using Netvibes for a long time, and yesterday, having opened my page, I received an offer to “upgrade” my version from Coriander to Ginger.

For those who do not know, Netvibes is something like a “virtual desktop”. Personal page to which you can add various widgets, rss-feeds, podcasts, notifications of new emails, todo lists, and more. Recalls the iGoogle page.

1. The pane for adding widgets, channels and other things - now not a narrow strip on the left, but a large retractable field on top. Everything has become larger and more subjectively more convenient.

2. It has become easier to create “universes” - publicly accessible pages of Netvibes, where you can also place your favorite channels and podcasts, various widgets. A set of widgets is somewhat different from what you can add to your personal (not publicly accessible) page - for example, there is a “wall” on which any user can write you everything he wants; There are widgets for displaying the status of AIM, ICQ, GT and other messaging clients. The link to go to editing the “universe” is now almost in the most prominent place, next to the add widgets / channels button.

3. New Widgets. They appeared a lot, mainly for integration with social networks and Google services. There are convenient listeners for Internet radio and podcasts with integrated search, online translators, and more. In order to try them all, you probably need a week)

4. New channels available from the menu. Broadcasts of the most popular with Last.fm, podcasts for every taste, various news - all this has become even more.

5. Activities. Now you can add “friends”, like in social networks, and centrally inform them about your actions, see what they are doing, and also view your list of actions (which add / delete widgets / channels and other manipulations with your page are recorded). You can also, for example, report interesting news in your rss feeds (podcasts), and probably some other actions (until you figure it out :)

6. List of contacts. In the previous version there was only a widget that allowed to store contacts, and in the new version there appeared a convenient search system for friends. For example, you can find out who among your contacts GMail (Twitter, Facebook and other networks) is already using Netvibes, and add them as a friend. The widget for storing contacts also remained, and was supplemented with new fields for a more detailed description of them.

7. Several new themes available now, however, in Coreander Release.

8. Each widget / channel has an arrow, when clicked, you can add an item to the list of "favorites", add it to the "universe" (public page), send a link to add to one click of this module to friends, or get an insert code such a link to a blog.

In general, many pleasant little things that make life a little more convenient.
