How we did the game jam, but we got our own greenlight

image The developers of our favorite Unity engine create a universal tool for creating games, and we are creating a platform for developing and releasing your games. We are talking about a platform connecting novice game developers with the stars of the industry and future users of your game.

Our idea ... or even our hope is to provide talented programmers, artists, designers who dream of making games, the opportunity. And the first results show that everything works out for us: teams gather on the fly, lonely talents get the opportunity to prove themselves, young teams carefully show their first prototypes, and experienced teams use our platform to putest ideas and new projects.

GamesJam # 1




At the end of 2013, with the efforts of Oleg Chumakov, the GamesJam engine appeared, in which we launched the first test contest for creating games , or rather game prototypes ... We were able to interest experts from Nival, Mail.ru, etc., record podcasts and donate Unity Pro to the best projects. Winners, finalists and completion of the test jam number zero - fanfare, fireworks, results .

The gaming industry GamesJamKanobu festival is happening now while you are reading these lines. The Alternativa Platform (you know them from the Tanki Online game) provided a cash prize fund, Kanobu provides information coverage, and we accept projects and offer an expert commission and everyone who wants to see and evaluate them .

The best projects attract the attention of the editorial staff of Kanobu and appear on the main one along with motivating stories from the project participants, for example, about the artist Anya and her drill . At the time of this writing, 375 projects have been submitted ...

Three hundred and seventy five projects!


Just a minute, 375 ideas, concepts, game prototypes have been announced . From young teams, from experienced teams, from, in fact, gamers who dream of creating their own game. Yes, friends, we even have a concept game from a ballerina girl dancing in the Minsk Opera and Ballet Theater!

Our enthusiasm was supported by game development industry: several companies offered to sponsor future jams, gamers and game development events offer to exhibit the best projects, representatives of related industries, come with suggestions and the desire to work together. And we agree. Our project is not commercial, it is aimed at improving the industry, its development.

The results are already visible now: all three winners of the Kaspersky hackathon from my previous habrakposta went to the Microsoft hackathon, they will participate in other projects. Beginners try themselves, study, sometimes receive prizes and gifts, always get a lot of experience and endless fan. You look at how the guys grow up, and you believe in the future - the next generation is growing up!

I really want to announce our next steps, about a game development academy, about a summer game development camp, about the largest industrial event where cosplayers, comic lovers, gamers and game developers work together, about game jam for gaming consoles ... But all in order, as you sign agreements of all parties. And I’ll tell you about Unite in Moscow ... soon :) At this rate we will have our own Greenlight, or even more.
