At the CES exhibition in Las Vegas at the very beginning of this year, Intel vice president Moulie Eden (Mooly Eden) presented a new device that will become the basis for the next generation of “native” human-computer technology - RealSense 3D camera.
The RealSense camera is an embedded solution that will be equipped with various portable and stationary devices: ultrabooks, tablets, transformers, AIO (All-in-Once), etc. The camera allows you to receive a picture in HD format and provides all the necessary functions of human interaction: face recognition and gestures, tracking of emotions, highlighting the background and so on.

Already this year, commercial devices equipped with Intel RealSense cameras, such as Acer, Asus, Dell, Fujitsu, HP, Lenovo, and NEC, will be on sale. Microsoft and Intel, combining efforts, are implementing a new functionality for Skype and Lync messengers. In addition, work is currently continuing on the implementation of RealSense functions in third-party software products: Autodesk, DreamWorks, Metaio, Tencent, and others.

Exclusively with human interaction, RealSense functions are not limited. It is assumed that it will play an important role in such an important and promising business as 3D scanning and printing. In turn, RealSense technology is not limited to only the camera and the software to it. Already there are developments in the field of surround sound, there will be other far-reaching projects. Incidentally, the new version of the Intel Perceptual Computing SDK , which includes support for the camera and other RealSense functions, will also be called the Intel RealSense SDK.
