North Korean Red Star OS goes to Macs

Poor Microsoft. It seems that North Korea no longer loves the look a la traditional Windows. The latest version of the operating system for North Korea - Red Star Linux, was restyled and comes with a new desktop that is very similar to Apple Mac OS X.

The previous version was based on the popular KDE, which imitated Windows 7. Red Star Linux was developed by the Korea Computer Center (Korea Computer Center - KCC), a large development center in Pyongyang (Pyongyang) and is based on Linux, an open source operating system Linus Torvalds (Linus Torvalds). This OS has been developed for about 10 years and is based on Red Hat Linux.

Red Star first became available outside North Korea somewhere in 2010, when a Russian student at the University. Kim Il Sung (Kim Il Sung University) published it on the Internet.
Here is how version 2.0 looked

Now, thanks to Will Scott (Will Scott), an American scientist who gave lectures at the Pyongyang University of Science and Technology at the end of 2013, we can see version 3.0. Probably this version was released a year earlier. Scott said that he had acquired software from a KKC retailer in southern Pyongyang and did not make changes to it. This is what the North Koreans can see when the software is installed.
First of all, a few screenshots when the OS is installed and starts.

If you use a poppy, then some shots will seem a little familiar to you. Here is the choice of time zone and desktop image:

And this is what file manager looks like:

But the email client, terminal and applications for productive work look like this:

Like the previous version of Red Star, the latest version 3.0 includes Wine. This package allows you to run Windows applications in a Linux environment.
