PHDays CTF Quals Summary
PHDays CTF Quals interactive data protection competitions were held for 48 hours from 12:00 on January 25 to 12:00 on January 27. The sensational winners were members of the Polish Dragon Sector team, PPP (USA) and More Smoked Leet Chicken (Russia) took second and third places.
The main difference between the current qualifying competition from all previous CTF Quals was a special quest that participants had to complete in order to earn points. These points could be used to open the CTF tasks themselves, for which the final points were awarded. The plot of the quest was a continuation of the legend of the final PHDays III CTF competition. This time, the participants were to investigate the incident involving the spread of the Detcelfer worm as part of the task force Golem.

The heat of battle this year exceeded all expectations of the organizers. 627 teams registered to participate in the competitions (418 of them were able to complete at least one task during the quest, and at least one CTF task was decided by 276 teams).

Teams that failed to break into the top ten should not despair: the organizers have not yet spent their wild cards (the number of special invitations is being discussed).
