In Russia, to combat the spread of drugs through the Internet, special software is being developed,
RIA Novosti reports. This was announced at the international conference "Terrorism and electronic media" (Cyprus), Alexander Mikhailov, head of the department of interdepartmental and informational activities of the Federal Service for Combating Illicit Drug Trafficking of the Russian Federation.
“Uncontrollable conditions are created on the Internet for collusion, the organization of trade and marketing of drugs,” Mikhailov said. “In this connection, within the framework of the national target program, specialized software is being created to block information related to drug trafficking,” he said.
In general, according to Mikhailov, the level of drug use in Russia has stabilized. “If a few years ago, the annual increase in the population who use drugs was 20–25%, today this figure is 0.5%,” he said.
