Some people who use the
budgetary Optimus by Ilya Birman suffer from one serious nuisance: the joy after the successful installation of typographic layouts gives way to disappointment, because the list of used layouts to the items “English (typographical layout of Ilya Birman)” and “Russian (typographical layout of Ilya Birman ) "Persistently added the point" USA ". This may seem strange, but the constant appearance of a third (and even defective from a typographical point of view) layout creates simply intolerable conditions for work.
A small investigation revealed that there are a number of programs (among them, for example,
QIP Infinum and
mKey ), which, when launched, shamelessly ignore the lack of the “US” layout for English, and connect it, referring to the appropriate library (kbdus.dll in the system system32 directory). Their developers, apparently, decided that the standard layout for the English language is installed on all windows-machines.
It is treated quite simply: first, you must turn off System File Protection (in Windows XP, you can use the free
XP Tweaker utility for this purpose). Then we download all the extra programs that can affect the situation (the same QIP Infinum, for example). Now, using the control panel, remove the parasitic layout. Go to the system32 system directory and replace the kbdus.dll file with IBTL-ENG.dll from the same directory (the last file is the English typography of Birman), not forgetting to make a backup. Then we select the standard “USA” layout for the English language. Reboot and re-enable System File Protection.
Everything, the problem is solved. One has only to add that all of the above applies equally to those users who prefer the handwritten typography of Ilya Birman (for example, using the
Microsoft Keyboard Layout Creator ).
