Bush inadvertently published on the Internet instructions for the manufacture of the atomic bomb

US intelligence services have closed access to the site on which documents of Saddam Hussein’s regime seized in Iraq were posted, RIA Novosti reports. Motive - information could serve as a guide for the manufacture of nuclear weapons.

Surprisingly, the publication of these documents was originally authorized. Republican congressmen insisted on the placement of files in the public domain. The US intelligence agency then opposed it, but President George W. Bush supported the congressional initiative, and in March 2006 the National Intelligence Director’s office declassified millions of pages in Arabic.

Now, the same office has suspended access to the site, because it received information that the Bush administration inadvertently published instructions on how to make an atomic bomb. “Despite the fact that the placement of materials had strict selection criteria, the materials already placed, as well as those that are supposed to be placed, will be carefully studied before the site resumes its work,” said Chad Colton, director of public relations, in a statement US National Intelligence.

Meanwhile, the New York Times, citing its sources, suggests that the placement of these materials helped Iran to create nuclear weapons. Other experts argue, however, that the Iranian nuclear program was in an advanced stage already in the spring-summer of last year — that is, before the publication of Arab materials. At the same time, they note that the terrorists could use the materials.
