We have already written several times about our new cloud platform for developers of real-time communications / telephony services. Since then, several well-known companies, including
Bitrix24 ,
JivoSite and
MoiSklad , have integrated various VoxImplant-based services into their products. According to our idea, the platform should give the opportunity to create a wide variety of services and applications, but to implement all our ideas at once is very difficult, so we are consistently moving along the roadmap. One of the new features, about which we decided to be sure to inform the developers, is video calls. More information about the implementation and how to use it can be read under the cut.
So, what exactly can you do now?
- Video call from browser to browser using WebRTC or Flash (you cannot call from WebRTC to Flash and vice versa)
- Video call from the browser to SIP or from SIP to the browser, while only using Flash, well, if, of course, you do not find a SIP client with VP8 support (a la Bria 3). If you find it, then you can also call to / from SIP from WebRTC.
- Video call from iOS SDK to iOS SDK
- Video call from iOS SDK to SIP and vice versa
Video calls from the iOS SDK to the browser or in the opposite direction do not work yet, since we are faced with a number of interesting problems that require more time to solve them, but in the future this functionality should also appear. Several screenshots are attached:

There are plans to release an SDK for Android, record video calls, perhaps support video conferencing and other useful features.
