And without that rich list of web services Google has replenished with a new service called Google Sites, designed to create websites and organize teamwork.

The Google Sites service is based on the development of the company JotSpot, which Google acquired in the fall of 2006. JotSpot specializes in developing software tools for creating and publishing Wiki pages. Wiki technology allows editing content through a web interface, instantly creating links to other articles (both existing and planned ones), and so on.
Through the Google Sites service, which has become part of the Google Apps web application suite, users without special programming knowledge will be able to quickly create their own website and fill it with content. Google Sites offers a choice of several basic templates, for example, to form an intranet portal or employee’s web profile. Documents, presentations, files and other data can be placed on the site. Subsequently, the ability to edit resource materials can be provided to other users, for example, colleagues or classmates. Thus, through Google Sites, users will be able to create a collaborative environment for joint implementation of projects and information sharing.
To work with Google Sites, you must register with Google Apps. Google expects that the new service will interest small companies, educational institutions and other organizations.

It also became known that Google slightly modified the interface of its online office applications included in the Google Docs package. Now the panel with the tools of Writely, Spreadsheets and Presentations editors resembles the panel of traditional offline programs from the Microsoft Office (up to the 2007 version of the Microsoft Office System). Theoretically, the changes will facilitate the work with Google web applications for novice users.
