The Hotmail mailbox service and the Windows Live Messenger IM pager — Microsoft’s two main web services — were not available to all users for about six hours due to the disconnection of the Microsoft Live ID service. The MSN.com portal, Xbox Live and other sites that use the Live ID to identify visitors have been hit hard.
The "accident" happened on Tuesday morning, American time, that is, about 36 hours ago. Users could not log in under their own names, and those who managed to log in before the technical failure did not have the opportunity to make Log Out.
By an unfortunate coincidence, the technical problems of Windows Live happened that day when Windows Server 2008 was
officially introduced . It is on this system, as Microsoft claims, that a significant part of the Windows Live infrastructure is based.
