Homemade tablet on the Raspberry Pi

PiPad - so Michael Castor called his tablet on the Raspberry Pi.

“Every day, manufacturers make new tablets — thinner, lighter, and faster, but they all look the same and do the same thing,” he says. “When I decided to create my tablet on the Raspberry Pi, I wanted to do something else. A handy portable Linux system. ”

The main issue in assembling the tablet for him, apparently, was the desire to work with the tablet in flight. He came to a simple but effective solution - a wooden case in which all the components of the tablet are assembled. This is a 10.1-inch touchscreen (the main problem was to find a screen that would work from 5 volts like the Raspberry Pi, not 12), the computer itself, a battery of 10,000 mAh (the tablet runs for 6 hours - though it’s not indicated in what mode but apparently with watching the video).

The entire project cost him $ 350. In fact, no one from the security service had any questions about the tablet, and Eben Upton (the creator of Raspberry Pi) even left his autograph on it after the inspection.
