My view on using Asus Eee Pc

1. Since this computer is so small, then it must have the appropriate application - this is a portable mobile gadget.

Therefore, from its main functions can be identified:

a) Web surfing in the presence of a Wi-Fi network - no other portable gadget in this function can be compared with a laptop (neither a PDA, nor a smartphone, or even a cell phone)

b) Reading electronic documentation.
First of all, the well-known problem in the size of the display for PDAs and smart phones, which does not allow reading horizontal pdf files without horizontal scrolling, does not have this problem for EEE RS.
Secondly, on which mobile device can you read djvu files? we did not find it, and my wife really needed (she has a huge library of books and magazines), and in color.



c) Watching the video without the necessary conversion - here, of course, you can find other analogs - for example, pmp on the hard drives, but the micro-laptop is also not bad.

Now about the results:

My Asus EEE PC can read PDF files and DJVU - reading books and books with color illustrations is the perfect solution.
Web surfing is also up to par - although the questions of installing your favorite Opera browser are still unfinished.

I still put the Opera but did it somehow differently.

First, the opera distribution was not downloaded for Xandros, but for Kubuntu.
but as I understand it doesn’t play a special role, both Linux distros are based on Debian.

and select Install DEB files

actually it all worked for me.

By the way, with what Opera on Xandors still liked, in fullscreen mode (press F11 on the keyboard), unlike firewall, the opera really works in full screen

although there is a fly in the ointment: the old problem of opera and Google
Jimeyl mail works, but the calendar with a creak

the most important thing:
Opera 9.5beta was installed correctly

By the way, Skype on this laptop works just great without any microphones and headphones :)



And when a “webcam” is also used in the “simple” mode, it generally turns out a ready-made Internet videophone.
