The virus has disabled all video recording complexes in the Moscow region

More than 100 photo and video recording complexes in the Moscow region have disabled the virus, according to Gazeta.Ru. According to the publication, none of the Strelka-ST cameras installed by the traffic police is currently working.

At the disposal of the journalists was a letter from the company engaged in the maintenance of devices:

“The study showed that the mass shutdown of the Strelka-ST photo and video recording complexes began at 01.00 on January 9, 2014, and by 11.00 in the morning the data stopped coming from more than 90 points that had been working on the eve of January 8, 2014,” the document says.

By January 10, 110 out of 144 cameras installed in the Moscow Region were out of order. In addition, the letter says about the reasons for the collapse:

After in-depth diagnostics of thermostatted computers of the Strelka-ST complex, it was established:

- As a result of the deliberate hacking of the system, the file system of the processing and control units of the Strelka-ST complexes was damaged, which makes it impossible to launch the Windows XP operating system and the specialized software of the complexes;
- corrupted system logs of the operating system; on system disk C:
- found a foreign malicious batch file 222.bat, configured to automatically change the password of the operating system and run the executable file 1.exe;
- passwords for access to the operating system with administrator rights have been changed.

The reason for the inoperability of the complexes is the intentional hacking of the operating system by unknown persons.

The information about the breakdown of the complexes was confirmed by the traffic police of the Moscow region, without specifying, however, about the virus:

Stationary complexes of photo and video fixation are currently in an inoperative state for an unidentified reason. We informed the owner of the cameras of the CCU "TsDDMO" about the need to restore the cameras. Traffic control is carried out with the help of mobile systems for fixing traffic violations.

The Strelka-ST cameras are the main means of fixing traffic violations in the Moscow region. These devices control the speed on all federal highways of the region. Restoring their work according to some estimates will take at least a month.

Upd:
“Currently, 10 out of 130 disabled video-recording complexes have been restored. Fully functioning of the entire system will be restored until January 16. The causes of the incident and the extent of the damage are being investigated, ” said the deputy chairman of the Moscow Region government.
