Technological exhibition CES-2014 showed us a lot of interesting things, and only the uppermost part of the tip of the iceberg, so to speak, of all this diversity, fell on Habr.
One of the most interesting exhibits at the exhibition, without a doubt, was the modular smartphone Eco-Mobius, created by ZTE. On Habré wrote about him back in October, but now he was shown "live", and not only in the form of rendered images and plastic modules.

Here are photos of the smartphone from the exhibition, and the company presented both a smartphone and a tablet at the same time. It is worth recalling that, according to the plan, the individual modules of a smartphone or tablet are one of the important elements of the gadget. This may be a camera, processor, RAM, or a wireless module.
If necessary (outdated "stuffing"), you can update not the entire smartphone, but a separate module. For example, you need more RAM - bought in the nearest store. Need a camera with a higher resolution - inserted. Updated processor - changed. In general, heaven on Earth, and only.
ZTE is not the first to introduce its vision of a modular smartphone.
Motorola, for example, demonstrated its modular Ara smartphone, and now it’s not just a concept, but a very real project. The company is going to work on the project very tightly, for which an equipment manufacturing partner has been found (back in November). And in general, earlier, Motorola’s CEO represented by CEO Dennis Woodside stated that the modularity of smartphones is one of the most promising areas of development for the company.
