Cheap organization of a second PC in the apartment

Good day, dear readers. After reading one article about the second life of old machines, I decided to tell you one very simple but effective way to do it from one PC - two. I’m sure many already know this and even know several programs from different developers on this topic that duplicate the work of Windows, etc.
I will propose a way in which the 2nd PC will be independent (well, almost independent, since if you turn off / restart the physical PC, naturally, our second virtual one will also be cut down). But while the physical works, the second PC will be fully functional and fully productive.

This is a good way to organize a very cheap workplace, which at the same time will not occupy space in the apartment, for example for a wife who sometimes wants to surf the Internet while you are busy on the main PC.

What we need for this:

1. The main PC with Windows (our new PC can be with any OS, but the main one only with Windows);
2. TV with HDMI support and, accordingly, the HDMI cable itself (also works on older TVs with tulips, but, given the quality of playback, it is difficult to talk about expediency);
3. A pair of wireless keyboard and mouse, preferably having 1 base (which will work only for our 2 PCs, the first pair can be wired);
4. VMware (I think everyone here knows it well).

Let's start:

We connect the TV to the PC using HDMI. Here (Control Panel - Appearance and Personalization - Screen - Screen Resolution) is configured so that 2 screens work.

Create a virtual machine in VMware, and if you already have a working virtual machine, you can use it.
The only thing you need to edit is the settings file. The reason for editing is that, by default, VMware does not allow the usb device to be disconnected from the main OS (not even in the selection list)

In the configuration file of the virtual machine * .vmx add 2 lines:

usb.generic.allowHID = "TRUE" usb.generic.allowLastHID = "TRUE" 

Thus, your second pair of wireless keyboard and mouse will appear in the list of USB devices. By selecting it, it will disconnect from the main PC and will work in our virtual machine without interfering with the operation of the main PC.

It remains to drag our machine to the 2nd screen and deploy it there.

Yes, you can naturally say that this is nonsense or self-indulgence, that it is much better to buy a MiniX or a normal system engineer. But sometimes there is simply no desire to spend money on another workstation, since, for example, it is rarely needed. My brother once worked on such a machine in 3Dmax and was completely satisfied, given the resolution of my 1920 * 1080 TV, it was much more convenient for him to work than on a small screen.
