In a few hours, the New Year will come, and many habra people will try to update the date in their copyright section as soon as possible on their website. But is it right to update it immediately with the advent of the New Year?
The “copyright” section, which is usually located in the basement of the site, is officially called the “copyright protection sign”.
Article 1271 of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation , as well as the whole
GOST R 7.0.1-2003 , is devoted to the rules of its use. According to this standard, the sign "consists of the Latin letter" C "in a circle, the name of the object of the protection of the right, the name of the right holder and the digital designation of the
year of the first publication of the work ."
In this way:
| The date in the “Copyright” section does NOT mean the time of the site’s existence, but the time when the materials posted on it were published. |
When all materials on the site are published in one year, the sign has a standard look (the same as, for example, in paper books):
Vasily Pupkin, 2013
When different materials are published in different years, you can either use your date on each page of the site, or use a range of dates:
Vasily Pupkin, 2008–2013
But, in any case, these are the dates of publication of materials. Therefore, if after the New Year the new materials have not yet appeared on the site, it is wrong to update the date.
')
If, however, you really want to update it, you can congratulate the readers on the New Year - a new material will appear on the site,
... and a full basis, finally, to deliver the treasured dial.
