A few days before the onset of 2014, Gitkhab managed to cross the mark of 10 million repositories. And more than half of them - 5.5 million - were created this year. The githab, despite its already enormous size, continues to grow exponentially. If the creation of the first million repositories took three years and eight and a half months, the last million was registered in forty-eight days.

In the summer of 2012, Githab received a $ 100 million investment from the Andreessen Horowiz Foundation. This allowed him not only to consolidate his position as the dominant repository for program code, but also to target new areas - the Github leadership believes that any project containing arbitrary data benefits from using version control systems.
