“Earth Rising” - reconstruction of the Apollo 8 flight to the Moon from NASA in honor of the 45th anniversary of the event

The photo titled " Earth Rising " (Earthrise) is one of the most important in the history of mankind. In this photo we see the Earth rising above the lunar horizon. Probably, this photograph was made by astronaut William Anders during the flight of the moon on the Apollo 8. With the help of modern technology and the Lunar reconnaissance orbiter (LRO), NASA specialists managed to recreate the very photo in digital form, and even more - to create the Apollo 8 travel model, putting the resulting materials into a video.

Now each of us can trace the path of the spacecraft and its team, right up to the moment of receiving the photo (of course, the moment of the rise of the Earth due to the lunar horizon is also modeled).

The video is equipped with relevant text and data to help understand what's what. All this is in English, but it is not too difficult to understand, even if you do not know this language.

And of course, one cannot help but be surprised by the fact that since the implementation of the Apollo 8 mission, 45 years have already passed. Probably, there are not so many people on Habré who are eyewitnesses of this event (conscious eyewitnesses, and not observers of the screen of the Soviet TV in 2-3 years :)).

Well, we are waiting for new achievements from NASA and commercial organizations involved in the development of space travel (in the future, let's hope - to other planets in the solar system).
