The outgoing 2013 showed excellent dynamics in the video analytics market, despite the weak pace of economic development in the country as a whole. The scale and number of pilot projects many times exceeded the figures of last year and created a good start for their replication in the period 2014-2017. Note the most significant segments of the use of security (O), biometric (B), statistical (C) and management (V) video analytics.

The principal difference from the previous projects is the strong focus on video analytics. All camcorders are supposed to use at least one or several modules of intellectual video processing. The working group for each pilot project tested video analytics using a specially developed methodology.
The immaturity of the market is still characterized by a small share of video analytics in the revenue of the suppliers of intelligent video surveillance systems (no more than 10%), the lack of boxed solutions (with the exception of visitor counters) and poor awareness of market participants about the real possibilities of technology.
The main drivers of the Russian video analytics market include significant government investments in preparations for the Sochi Olympics in 2014 and the country's transport infrastructure, the exhaustion of the potential of manual video surveillance, the need for a cardinal increase in labor productivity in all sectors, and increased competition in retail. Another paradoxical growth driver in Russia is problems with the capacity of communication channels, especially in the regions. As the number of cameras and the megapixels of their sensors increase, the problem only gets worse. So, IMS Research predicts a twofold increase in the global volume of video data coming from surveillance cameras in the four-year period - from 2013 to 2017. Thus, the only basis for sustainable growth is the rejection of continuous broadcasting through the introduction of video analytics technologies. ')
