Mobidapter genial adapter of the past

I would like to tell you about a very interesting old project. It is a pity, of course, that this device is not widespread.
And so, back in 2009, the company Elan has created a gadget that could well become the most revolutionary mobile accessory in recent years. The size of a plastic card, the Mobidapter allows you to connect USB flash drives, as well as HDD and SSD to phones with a microSD slot.



On the one hand, the accessory resembles a microSD memory card, on the other - a USB host. On the case there are two indicators. Since the flash card requires power, the Mobidapter probably contains a battery, therefore, it will have to be charged from time to time. Of course, connecting a hard disk to more serious devices of one battery will not be enough, so external power is needed.

The device is ingenious in its simplicity. Now, a user who wants to connect flash drives to his phone no longer needs to chase rare models with the USB host function. Mobidapter, as well as flash cards, can be connected to the phone without rebooting it, “on hot”.





Unfortunately, the start of sales of the device has not started. Why it happened so plainly and it is not clear, apparently, that the company has chosen the way to develop home management systems more preferable. At that time, the smart home was more innovative.
