GeForce 9600 GT Released
February 21, NVIDIA officially unveiled its new “midrange” accelerator, the GeForce 9600 GT. According to the representatives of NVIDIA, this DirectX10-compatible video card is an excellent price / performance balanced product. From myself, I would note that the 9600 GT is an excellent candidate for replacing the still “lively”, but, unfortunately, obsolete accelerator of the GeForce 7900 GS model.
The GeForce 9600 GT accelerator was built on the G94 chip, it can do 64 universal processors operating at 1625 MHz. The frequency of the graphics processor - 650 MHz, GDDR3 memory (512 MB) - 1800 MHz. The manufacturer notes that this accelerator, consuming 95 watts, is also the best solution in terms of performance per watt.
As for the performance itself, detailed (and adequate) tests are still rare on the Web. NVIDIA, by the way, shows its test results (in FEAR), according to which the GeForce 9600 GT is two times ahead of the “outdated” analogues of the GeForce 7900 GS and GeForce 8600 GTS.
Manufacturer's recommended price for this accelerator is $ 169-189.
