microSD -> SD adapter extension cable

Surely, most owners of car DVRs had to notice how inconvenient it is to remove a microSD flash card. So in my case, without a long thin object or long nail flash drive is simply impossible to get. The situation is aggravated by the fact that the recorder is installed right behind the rear-view mirror, and its quick removal is not provided, and access to it is generally difficult.
I found a way out of the situation by seeing a microSD to SD module in a Chinese online store. But specifically this adapter is too short, and wait more than a month. So I decided to make such an extension myself, which I actually did.

It’s no secret that microSD is a smaller version of a full-size SD card with a different connector and between them these flash drives are fully compatible. Therefore, in order to be able to use full-size SD cards, I will be doing a microSD to SD adapter extension cable, especially since I already have a suitable SD card. MicroSD in the SD connector is easier to insert using a standard adapter . Thus, it will be possible to use both microSD and SD flash drives.

The adapter circuit is shown below as a table with the numbers of microSD and SD contacts that need to be connected. Between pins 4 and 3, 6 on the SD side, it will not be superfluous to also install a ceramic capacitor with a capacity of 0.1µF.

The extension cord consists of a microSD plug, which will be inserted into the slot instead of a USB stick, a flat flex cable and a board with a connector for a full-sized SD USB flash drive. The plug and board are made using the LUT method on double-sided fiberglass 1mm thick.
The most difficult part of the extension is the microSD plug. To make it, you need to stock up with a caliper and a flat file. It is important to sustain the size, exactly 11x15mm.
After half an hour of work with a file, these plugs should turn out (you need one). At this stage, it is necessary to check that the plug is easily inserted and pulled out into the slot instead of a flash drive.

Solder the flat flex cable to the plug. The distance between the tracks in the cable is 1mm. Solder should be a minimum to prevent the formation of mounds. The plug must remain flat.

We put a piece of double-sided tape between the board and the cable and glue the structure with tape on both sides. Scotch tape must also be glued, except for contact pads.

At the other end, solder the cable to the prepared board with an SD connector. The smd capacitor is soldered directly to the connector pins to save space.

The open parts of the tracks are sealed with tape (not blue).

Between the board and the cable, pre-putting the same piece of double-sided tape.

Packed in shrink.

DVR with a full-size SD flash card, everything works successfully.

In the car, I threw the connector with a flash drive over the visor and now it is very convenient and quick to quickly remove it from there. Plus, now I don’t have to buy another flash drive, and the SD card lying around idle has found its use.

Thanks for attention.
