Briefly about the new: Samsung released 840 EVO - the world's first SSD mSATA drive with a capacity of 1 TB

Last week, Samsung Electronics announced the launch of a new 840 EVO mSATA line of solid-state drives, including the world's first terabyte SSD mSATA.

The Samsung 840 EVO mSATA SSDs are an extension of the 840 EVO line, which was introduced in July of this year as part of the Samsung SSD Global Summit. The new SSDs are enclosed in a compact mSATA form factor, which is about a quarter of the size of a standard 2.5-inch SSD drive, with equal volumes and performance levels.

The Samsung 840 EVO uses proprietary NAND flash memory microchips (128 Gbps), built on the basis of those. process 10nm class. The thickness of SSD disks is 3.85 mm (this is approximately 40% less than the standard HDD), and the weight is 8.5 grams (12 times lighter than a regular hard drive).

The new compact line of solid-state drives consists of models of 120, 250, 500 and 1000 GB. The 1 TB version is capable of performing up to 98,000 I / O operations per second (IOPS) in random read mode and up to 90,000 write mode operations. The speed of sequential reading and writing data is 540 and 520 MB / s, respectively.
