Samsung's new mSATA-SSD on 1TB weighing 8.5 grams will be on sale this month.

In general, the era of large and heavy hard drives is not over yet, although there are, of course, alternatives. For example, Samsung has introduced a solid-state drive with an mSATA interface with a capacity of 1TB. At the same time, the weight of the device is only 8.5 grams.

The Samsung 840 EVO mSATA SSD is only 3.85 millimeters thick, so you can easily put it where even the smallest notebook hard drive won't fit. We are talking about ultrathin ultrabooks, tablets, and, possibly, smartphones - who knows?

In addition, the same device can be used as a secondary drive in your laptop. The read / write speeds are 540 and 520 Mb / s, respectively. The drive uses 128-Gbps NAND memory, manufactured using a 10 nm process technology.



The model range of these drives includes SSDs of 120, 250, 500 GB and 1TB. Drives should be on sale this month.

For the price, unfortunately, nothing is clear yet. Although it is unlikely the price will be low.
