For the last 3 or even 4 months, I have been writing the IDE / code editor for Android web programmers long and hard. It so happened that 2.5 years ago I wrote a similar program together with a friend, and by some miracle it was quite successful, despite the fact that it was practically the first experience of creating something other than university laboratory work.

After these years, having gained experience, I decided that I could write a program an order of magnitude better and more successful than our first attempt. Under the cut there will be graphs, earnings information and any tips for promoting this kind of applications.

A funny story happened here: the girl who is negotiating with the developers on this topic at first refused to review me, referring to the fact that the portal audience was inappropriate and that I would just throw out the money, fortunately I managed to convince her. Forums and social networks

Then came the forums interspersed with social networks, but rather with one social network - Google+. There is nothing to say about the forums, I will leave only the list of links for convenience:

But about the G + is much more interesting. I took a photo like the one in the title of the article, wrote a short sentence about the program and gave a link. After that, with this message I ~~zasyr ..~~ spammed all more or less relevant communities. And you know what? It gives effect! The people, in contrast to our "programmer" forums, plucked and repost - they liked. And here is a very important detail: the advantages that are delivered to the message with a link to the application go to Google Play! For example, my application has only 2000+ downloads at the moment, and G + pluses have as many as 524, 450 of which I dialed this way. And for those who do not know, these pluses now affect the issue .

Advertising using house ads through admob

The new interface of admob is very strange. I set up home advertising for two days until I read somewhere that in order for it to work, you have to do something like the following:

Create a promotion company
Click on it in the table that appears.
Go to the tab "Ad units"
For each banner through the column "Mediation type" put down eCPM larger than the AdMob Network and other networks.

Although in any case there is practically no sense from this because of the very narrow audience of the application.

Comments on blogs, answers to questions in StackExchange / StackOverFlow

Do not ignore this way of promotion, because if a person is looking for a similar program, then why not make it good for him and yourself.

Google Play Search

A separate item I want to mark the search. You will not believe it, but for the first 3 days it was simply impossible to find it by the exact name of the application. It was not included in the 500 (or so) applications that Google Play found.

Now imagine the situation:

Appannie does not display the position on the “Top New Free” tab, so I’ll just say that I checked it myself: in the Productivity category, the application ranks 6th in Russia, in Ukraine I don’t know, I hope that some readers will tell ).

For downloads, as expected, nothing interesting is observed.

The peak on the graphs is a review on w3bsit3-dns.com, which was on the second day after the release.

Well, the most interesting thing is money. The application contains in-app purchaise, which was not the best solution in terms of monetization. First, judging by the comments in G +, people are afraid of this method of buying because, according to them, it is buggy, and secondly, two positions in the search are better than one. I chose an in-app purchase only because there is no need to control the consistency of as many as two descriptions in the store, plus you do not need to reassemble the application 2 times, first changing the name of the package.

In principle, I am satisfied and will continue to work. The only straining some reviews. The application is not for housewives, why install, if it does not concern you at all? Here is an example of this (grammar saved):

Nothing is clear. I cannot even create a project, I constantly get errors and edit files accordingly! I understand that the files themselves can not be created todzhe ?? And why so much data you need to enter when creating a project? I can not understand anything! one

Well, respectively, 1 star. And the person has a profile on Linkin, in which he is a serious “Web Developer”. The truth is in skills for some reason only Wordpress.

Ps. If you write an application for geeks, then you can already boldly score on the support of devices from an OS earlier than ICS. I have for example less than 3%.
