Internet bride from Yekaterinburg deceived 15 foreigners

In Yekaterinburg, a couple of Internet scammers were caught red-handed and tried, reports Channel One . The creators of the fake marriage agency "Russian Girls", which had the only bride, wrote in 2001-2002. letters to potential suitors from the USA, England and Canada with a request to transfer money (from $ 800 to $ 3000), so that the bride would have something to issue a visa and buy tickets for.

The money was sent by fifteen people, but Alena Fedorovskaya, a student of the Ural Financial and Law Institute, depicting the bride, did not go abroad. Instead, Alyona and her roommate, Vladimir Osipov, bought two apartments, three cars and a garden plot for the money (about 400 thousand rubles).

The Verkh-Isetsky District Court of Yekaterinburg admitted that such a case is being considered for the first time, and sentenced the fake bride, as well as her accomplice Osipov, to five and five and a half years in prison, respectively, with confiscation of property, according to Part 4 of the Criminal Code (fraud committed by an organized group or on a large scale).

It was succeeded to catch marital Internet swindlers after one of the foreign suitors personally came to Ekaterinburg. The investigation was carried out by the department "K" of the Sverdlovsk police department. I had to turn to Interpol for help.
