Comstar UTS is buying assets
Comstar United TeleSystems (part of Sistema JSFC) acquired 100% of the authorized capital of the Ukrainian Internet service providers DG Tel and Technological Systems. The total amount of transactions was $ 4.7 million, Prime-TASS reported. According to Eric Franke, the CEO of Comstar-UTS, the assets turned out to be interesting for his company insofar as absorbed operators have their own communication networks, free number capacity, licenses for the provision of IP-telephony services and a stable client base in Kiev.
Recently, Comstar-UTS acquired the company in Armenia, announcing last Friday about the purchase of a 75% stake in the telecommunication operator Collnet, with the possibility of buying out the remaining stake in the future. At the same time, the company was going to acquire 51% of the Greek alternative operator Hellas On Line from the company Intracom Holdings. According to Vedomosti , these are the very first transactions of a Russian player that were made with funds raised during an IPO. In total in 2006-2007 the company is going to spend about $ 300 million on acquisitions.
