Hello, dear readers Habr!
The 24-hour marathon on the development of iOS applications for work on the
Pomodoro system has
just begun ! The marathon itself is available at the link:
bdev.tv. General chat for viewers and presenters in jabber'e: bdev@conference.mit.edu. Repository with the current code on
github .
Over the past few days a number of changes have occurred with the project:
')
- Updated the site: now - besides the broadcast itself - you can see the song playing in the stream, you can suggest an idea for the next application, see the dull wallpaper
- Registered company on Habrahabr
- We took a course on the development of free analogues paid applications
Within 24 hours, I will write an iOS7 application from scratch and upload it in the App Store. The idea of the application:
The Tomato Method is a time management technique proposed by Francesco Cyrillo in the late 1980s. The technique involves splitting tasks into 25-minute periods, called “tomatoes,” followed by short breaks. Wikipedia
In short, I want to make an application with the ability to configure a specific "loop" of timers. Standard customizable set will be 25-5-25-5-25-5-25-30. From two sides there will be side pull-down menus: left with settings, right with statistics. The application will be different color schemes, social sharing, tweaks timers, the most popular settings offered by the audience in the chat.
In the program stream:
- Application development itself
- Free communication, constant interactive
- Development on two hemispheres: teleconference in Vancouver
- The impact of the community on the broadcast: suggest what kind of paid application to make free on the next marathon
- Competition for the best icon for the application
- Great music
(Stas Mikhailov included) - The complete process of publishing an application on the App Store
- Laughter, intrigue, investigation
Competing free apps and their fatal flaws:
- DropTime: Beautiful and functional application. Alas, there are ads that are disabled for money.
- Pomodoro: A simple application without ads. Strongly lacking the functionality of statistics collection, rewinding timers, setting time intervals
- Pomodoro: Another application with the same name. Brakes on the iPad Mini, incomprehensible interface, lacks statistics and some settings
- doPomodoro: A simple application without ads. It looks nice, but not enough time interval settings
Today I will try to combine beautiful design, functionality and lack of monetization in 24 hours. The more people watching the broadcast, the more fun! Offer your ideas for the development of the project.
Waiting for you on stream!
Update from 12/06/13 06:46: At the 18th hour of development, the application successfully reached the “Waiting for Review” stage. As always, the application turned out beautiful and functional.
Thank you so much for the support throughout the broadcast! It is very pleasant that the community does not remain indifferent to such projects :)
And, of course, offer ideas for the following streams! What paid application do you want to see for free after the next broadcast?
Update on 12/11/13 6:41 PM:
The application successfully reached the App Store!
We download the free application on the
link , begin to work productively, set 5 stars and write a positive review!
Today I uploaded for checking version 1.1, inside:
- Sound Timers
- Local Notifications for working with the application in minimized mode
- Fixed a bug in the side menu when tomatoes were not updated.
Thanks again to all for your support!
