MNP (Mobile Number Portability) is a number transfer service when the cellular operator changes, which has long existed in the developed cellular communication markets all over the world. Its prevalence on average is about 5 percent (1). In Russia, there are predictions that it will be from 1.5 to 6%.

Talk about the introduction of this service in Russia has been underway for more than a year, but what do we have today? At best, operators promise readiness to receive “alien” subscribers from the middle of January. At the same time warn about the consequences - the connection may break, the phones explode, and the message does not reach. Do they have reasons to be so afraid of this law?

We believe there is. Serious battles unfold between the Big Three to cover the new generation LTE Internet networks. Rostelecom gives mobile assets under the management of Tele2 and together they plan to occupy 25% of the cellular communication market (2). Venture environment is preparing a draft of a free virtual operator Atlas on the model of freemium (3).

In the coming years, the mobile market is expected to make big changes, and we take on the task of making it as transparent and affordable for the subscriber as possible. How are we going to do this?

Our Android-based application analyzes data on the communication profile directly from the smartphone and selects the optimal tariff based on more than 2000 tariffs in all regions of the Russian Federation. It quickly gained popularity and entered the TOP-3 in Google Play finance. The optimizer has been launched over 1 million times.

The introduction of MNP required us to access the database of the transferred numbers. Therefore, we decided to turn to Nikiforov A.N., Minister of Communications and Mass Communications. The project received the approval and support of President Putin himself (4). In addition to the tariff optimizer, we will use the base of the transferred numbers to display the operator and the region during calls. By the way, recently this feature has also become available for Tele2 and Rostelecom subscribers:



We want to make the transition between operators as easy as clicking a button in an application. Recently, we tested the accounting of basic Internet options in Moscow and very soon we will launch support for all 83 regions. Soon we will share the technical details of our innovations, such as Dual Sim support and working with USSD requests on rooted smartphones.
