This weekend (December 7-8), the final of the open AI AI programming competition will take place. This year, participants write programs that control a small army of soldiers consisting of a commander, a medic, a sniper, a scout and an infantryman, and fight each other in specially prepared locations.
The names of 50 lucky ones who got to the Final following the results of Round 2 are already known, but according to the
Rules (see the diagram below), in addition Top 10 Sandboxes will also receive an invitation to participate in the Final!
Some interesting statistics:
- participants represent 17 countries;
- 36% of participants write in C ++ (21% in C #, and 25% in Java);
- participants made almost 100 thousand attempts;
- More than 260 thousand fights were held in the Sandbox;
- participants created more than 105 thousand fights (the largest number of fights, which was created by one participant - about 2500);
')
It is curious that the percentage of those who also participated in the 2012 competition is almost independent of the Round:
- 24% of participants of Round 1 of this year took part in Round 1 of the competition “Russian AI Cup 2012: CodeTanks”;
- 24% of the participants of Round 2 of this year participated in Round 2 last year;
- the selection for the Final is still ongoing, but at the moment the percentage of the total participants of the Final of this year and the past is 22%.
Of the 8 (Java, C ++, dedicated C ++ 11, C #, separated by Python 2 and Python 3, Pascal and D), only one of the available programming languages was dropped before the Final - representatives of Python 3 could not demonstrate a sufficient level of skill. Practically the only participant using the D language, he is also the developer of the language pack in this language,
isenbaev successfully entered the Final from the 27th place in Round 2.
This year, some participants helped us in developing language packs, for which many thanks to them! In addition to the already mentioned member
isenbaev , we thank the member
cNoNim , who put a lot of effort into supporting C ++ 11. In addition, there were several attempts to introduce Ruby, but, unfortunately, none of those willing could bring it to the end.
In the final battles participants are waiting for the duel. From each of the opponents - five fighters. We remind you that the Sandbox is open for both the participants who passed to the Final and those who took off from the championship. Moreover, you can join the Sandbox even now. Holders of the first six places in the Sandbox at the time of its closure (December 15, 23:59:59) will receive a pleasant - Apple iPod Touch 32 GB, and all participants of the past Round 2 have already won the exclusive T-shirts with the championship logo:
All successful fights!
