DVHack 2013. It was great. Or the first hackathon in the Far East
A small lyrical digression.
In 2002, when the word “hakaton” was still little-known, there was a strange brick building in the far-off town of Khabarovsk, on the campus of the Khabarovsk State Technical University. The building is two-storey, unfinished. There often came cars, repainted and changed numbers. Sometimes police officers came there, ate kebabs, had fun, and that made it even stranger ...
Recently, there was a light at night and strange silhouettes flashed in the windows! If anyone is interested to know what is now in this very place - welcome under cat.
It all started with the fact that my cell phone screamed - this means that someone needs something in "VKontakte". I saw an invitation to an event. Waiting for another spam, however, I found out the details and was pleasantly surprised: this is a hackathon! Yes, and, apparently, the very first in the Far East!
Joy was somewhat clouded by the organizers' unwillingness to share details. But one thing was clear: one must necessarily participate!
The topic of the event was kept secret, for all questions like “what should a co-worker do there?” Or “will there be a game developer and 3d modelers?” Was one answer: “the tasks will be everything!”. The venue was intriguing: it was a building in the campus of PNU, a former KSTU. In the place of that oddest two-story brick establishment, mentioned at the beginning, it was called, no more, no less - “Business Incubator”.
The quality of the performance was announced, free food (some participants did not hide the obvious interest on this item), evil energy drinks, lots of free space, smart Wi-Fi and a separate Game Zone with two prefixes: PS3 and XBOX360, projectors and a bunch of desktop games (here, too, there were amateurs who considered this one of the most important aspects).

According to the plan, the event began on Friday, November 29, and ended at two o'clock in the afternoon of Sunday, December 1st. Winter creeping in unnoticed, so to speak.
Simple requirements were announced:
All gathered in the conference room "Business Incubator". There were many beautiful words. Designated sponsors. But the topics are not announced. And then the word was given to the representative of Sberbank. Many people realized that there was no smell of game devil here.

We were surprised by the proposed project themes:
And also the fact that each team must consist of at least one coder, designer and manager. And it was planned to work with Unity 3d (I am a coder, a girl is a designer).
Began sleepless weekdays on weekends. Pleased food - three times a day, although not the same as in the original picture:
The judges were constantly with us, going back and forth, helping whenever possible.
Some teams were not very steamed: they ate and played in the game zone.
Although, the judges turned out to be unsurpassed masters in Mortal Kombat of the latest version.
As a result, in the penultimate day, in the evening, two teams of eight were eliminated.
Many creations were ready 10-40%, and the next morning was already a control checkpoint before the presentations. The second sleepless night was expected long.
The coder escaped from us, which strongly suggested the “convenient PhoneGap”, which I saw for the first time that day. Although, I must say, the product is very interesting. And, despite a very short acquaintance, we were able to create a product, although it requires processing.
In the morning, convulsively completed a simple, fake website to our application and found that we already had to go to the presentation.
We took the third place, but I was glad: after all, it turned out to be a bit sorted out with PhoneGap and even riveted something on it.
We received a lot of positive emotions, hard-coding, a lot of dating and shoulder-length bags under the eyes. Almost all expressed a desire to participate in such events.

Event Box - a system of organizing events. A means of booking places and organizing participants without intermediaries. We managed to work very qualitatively in a very short time.
Film selection is a service that allows users to select movies in theaters by voting and pre-payment. Moreover, in the favorite cinemas of the city. Watch “Back to the Future” at the movies!
Beeper is a mobile application on devices with access point function. Allows you to use your smartphone as a "beeper" - a device that sends and receives a radio signal and by which you can identify a person who has fallen under an avalanche.
