Google Compute Engine is now available for everyone.

Google has finally opened the Google Compute Engine (GCE) cloud computing service, announced a year and a half ago. Given the experience of Google in the development of scalable solutions, services for developers and the world's largest fleet of servers, GCE may well compete with EC2. No one will be bad if two competing giants start dumping.

On the day of the premiere several other amenities are timed:

Google promises support 24/7, uptime 99.95% (with compensation in case of non-compliance).

Planned technical work on testing, upgrading servers and software in the GCE cloud will be carried out by a special procedure , in small portions of servers, with preliminary transfer of instances to another location. That is, it will not affect uptime. Google supports the live migration method of moving a virtual machine from one physical server to another without stopping the virtual machine and stopping services.

In case of a hardware failure or other event, the owner of the virtual machine can activate the automaticRestart feature in advance, so that the site will return to online in a matter of minutes. Automatic reboot is not activated if the machine is turned off manually ( sudo shutdown ).

From now on, the cost of data storage is reduced by 60% (Persistent Disk): 4 cents per gigabyte per month instead of the previous 10 cents. I / O operations are now free (included in the cost of hosting). The previous price was 10 cents per million operations. Thus, the cost of hosting at 400 GB with a typical I / O load is generally reduced by 92% to $ 16 per month.

The cost of standard instances in all regions is reduced by 10%.
