Paper airplane PowerUp 3.0 - at the intersection of origami and modern technology

The designer of paper airplanes who did not try to get as long and predictable flight as possible from his staff is bad. Different grades of paper, designs and endless nuances of assembly, folds of flaps and steering wheels ... Shay Goytein, an American pilot with 25 years of experience, has been working at the junction of children's hobbies and modern technologies for a year and a half The result of his efforts — a set to turn any paper airplane into a radio-controlled electrolife capable of holding up to ten minutes in the air — collected the necessary amount on Kickstarter in just a few hours. Perhaps, besides a beautiful idea and elegant realization, a talented promotional video played a big role in the success of the campaign, in my opinion, one of the most successful on Kickstarter:

PowerUp 3.0 is a tiny control board with a Bluetooth Low Energy radio module and a LiPo battery connected by a carbon fiber rod with an engine and a rudder. The toy from the smartphone is controlled, the microUSB connector serves for recharging. Although initially the aircraft control application was only available for iOS, the success of the crowdfunding campaign allowed you to quickly raise money for an additional purpose - an application for Android, so you can fly with any smartphone that has Bluetooth 4.0 on board.

The range of the airplane - up to 55 meters. The turn in the horizontal plane is done with the help of the steering wheel, and in the vertical - by changing the engine thrust. You can use the set with any aircraft of a suitable size - it will be where the fantasy turns around. The base set on Kickstarter costs $ 30. In the free sale set should appear in June 2014.
