Yesterday, the first Internet Governance Forum opened in Athens. Five days in the capital of Greece will discuss the future of the Global Network, including the main question - who should manage it. The forum is held under the auspices of the UN, which provided a place for companies, organizations and people to debate.
The meeting is attended by over one and a half thousand delegates from around the world. Forum organizers say that it will not become a platform for the development of any rules or standards. Rather, its participants will be given the opportunity to speak out and come to an agreement on Internet security issues and its openness. Yesterday Vint Cerf, Chairman of ICANN and one of the founding fathers of the Internet ( DOC ), delivered his opening remarks to the forum participants.
