Western Digital showed its interesting solution - a compact Black² hard drive with two drives in one case - one with 120 GB SSD, the other - 1 TB HDD.
The meaning of the development is quite obvious and is formulated by the manufacturer something like this: combining the access speed and data volume in a single package. It was planned in advance so that the user installs the operating system, programs and other frequently used files on the SSD, and the music from the video should fit on the HDD. So the disk is “dual”, not hybrid - the operating system recognizes the disk as two separate devices.
Disk form factor - 2.5 inches, thickness - 9.5 mm. The remaining characteristics are:
- Interface: SATA 6Gbps
- Sequential read / write speed: 350/140 Mb / s (SSD)
- Sequential write speed:
- Power consumption from 0.9W to 1.9W depending on the mode of operation
- Noise level from 20 dBA to 21 dBA
')
The manufacturer adds the SATA-USB 3.0 adapter to the kit.
The disadvantage of the disk is that it will work only on Windows (starting with XP) and cannot be part of the RAID array.
The price of Black² is $ 299, which is not cheap at all - a separate SSD disk of 120 GB can be bought for $ 80- $ 100, and a HDD of 1 TB - for $ 65- $ 90, so a certain amount of imbalance is obtained.
