Today, the hero of the post will be Teleport 12 interface transformer. Please love and favor.
Fig. 1. Teleport-12 organizes a “through” channel for transmitting data from intelligent hardware to its software.
Teleport-12 is a device for transmitting data from intelligent equipment. In fact, it is a hardware signal converter between RS232 / RS485 / CAN interfaces and Ethernet. It is designed to connect any equipment with the above interfaces to their software or to the Technotronix development software (if this device is integrated into our software). That is, Teleport-12 is needed wherever a remote connection of a number of smart devices to a single server is required.

Energy meters, heat metering devices, electrical conversion plants, photo recorders and other equipment can act as intelligent devices with RS232 / RS485 / CAN interfaces. By connecting these devices to Teleport-12, you can obtain data on the operation of the intelligent device, change its settings, and execute control commands.

The Teleport-12 itself can be configured using the
Technotronix.SQL software or
the KUB-Ttkh software . It is also possible to configure the device without using special software - using the built-in WEB-server (Fig. 3), which can be run in any WEB-browser.

Device Modification - Teleport-12I
Teleport-12 has a modification -
Teleport-12I . The prefix "And" in the name of the device indicates additional functionality. In addition to forwarding (converting) data from the RS232 / RS485 / CAN interface to Ethernet, Teleport-12I has an input for connecting an instrument with a Pulse Output (electricity, water, gas, etc. meter).
In what cases can this hybrid be used?
Firstly, it is, of course, electricity metering. For our main customers - communication enterprises - on which we were primarily oriented in developing this device, the following situation is relevant. The “park” of meters is extremely diverse and in most cases consists of simple meters that have only pulse output. As a rule, within the communications enterprise, there is a decision that has been made and approved to replace the meters everywhere with modern intelligent devices with an RS485 interface. However, there are a lot of communication facilities, financing is extremely irregular, and the replacement process will obviously drag on for years. Meanwhile, the task of automating at least the process of taking readings from the counters is very relevant. In fact, it is impossible to put up with the unproductive expenditures of human resources and fuel and lubricants on the “old-fashioned” technology of detour of many objects and records on paper. And here the telecom operator has a dilemma. Do not wait for the replacement of the counter, buy a controller with a pulse input? And what to do when the counter is replaced? Throw away a purchased controller and replace it with a new device with RS485? It is not difficult to guess that Teleport-12I eliminates these doubts.

At first Teleport 12I can be connected to an electric meter through a pulse output, universal for all types of meters. Thus, we solve the task of automating readings and obtain a consumption profile for analyzing the benefits of switching to a different tariff. Further, if, thanks to Teleport-12I, possible savings are established, it is possible to organize the AMR system or purchase metrologically certified meters with RS485. The nice thing is that in this case Teleport-12I will come in handy: it will provide “transport” for readings from the meter, only now through RS485.

The second example of using Teleport-12I is heat and water accounting. Often there is a combination when a metering device with a RS485 and a metering device for cold water with a pulse output are installed on the metering station at the same time. Our "centaur" will solve both problems.
Retail cost Teleport-12I is 2950 p. VAT included.

We gave only two examples of successful use of the Teleport-12I device. We will be glad if you add to this list.
