Russian programming contest won by Google

The winner of Google Global Code Jam 2006 , one of the most reputable international programming contests, was Peter Mitrichev, a student at the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of Moscow State University, ITAR-TASS reported. Russian has managed to become the best among the 100 finalists of the competition. He got a cash prize of $ 10 thousand.

Another compatriot, Andrei Stankevich, got into the first three leaders. He took third place in the competition. Second place went to the Chinese-American Ying Wang. He, like Andrei Stankevich, was awarded an award of $ 5 thousand.

This year, Russia is ahead of the other 23 participating countries in terms of the number of programmers in the final, Google notes. In the top hundred, we recall, there were 32 Russians.
