LG, involved in the scandal with tracking SmartTV users, acknowledged the facts of data transmission even with the tracking option turned off, reports CNET .
LG claims that the collection of data on viewing channels and media files was used solely to provide users with relevant advertising and viewing recommendations.
“LG regrets the inconvenience that this functionality has brought users, and will continue to strive to meet the expectations of all our customers and the public,” a LG spokesman told the publication.

The Korean company is working on developing a software update, which will fix the error with sending information when the option is disabled, and the function of transferring the list of files from USB-drives and external network drives will be removed from the firmware.
