Clear, bold and affordable. Highscreen Alpha R Review

When a modern person chooses a smartphone for himself - he first of all thinks about the platform (iOS, Android, WindowsPhone), then about the manufacturer, then - about the device stuffing. So, choosing "on a piece of paper" - you always risk running into a cat in a bag. And if you choose with your eyes? I do not mean the design of the device, it is of course important. I mean the display.

The Highscreen Alpha R smartphone with a display size of 5 inches has a resolution of 1080 * 1920 and a matrix made using IPS technology. So what does this mean? This means excellent picture quality and excellent image clarity. In addition, the Alpha R comes with two batteries. This means that you can forget the jokes about the outlet.
Well, let's start?

Equipment

Traditional for Highscreen brown box with a description of the main characteristics of the device.

Inside the box is a charger, headset, USB cable, 2000 mAh battery, 4000 mAh battery, two covers (respectively), the smartphone itself.

Just want to talk about batteries. With a standard (2000 mAh) battery, the device looks very elegant and modern. The thickness of this 9.3 mm. It is pleasantly in the hand, and the weight of 156 grams is almost perfect (there is no feeling of a toy in the hand).

If, in pursuit of autonomy, to put a high-capacity battery, thereby increasing the thickness (up to 14 mm) and weight (up to 204 grams) of the smartphone - it turns into a fat one. However, while still well in the hand, and the resulting autonomy is worth it.

Here so the battery 4000th mAh sticks out.

The cover is made elegantly, smoothly beating the "hernia" from the doubled work time.

Of course, the elegance of the case is no longer the same, but to call Alpha R a brick - the language does not turn. A shovel that loves to eat. So: with a 2000 mAh battery, we have 3.5 hours of screen operation (2-2.5 days of work), and with a 4000 mAh battery, 5 hours (4 days of work!). For me it is so good! You can take two batteries on a business trip and not think about the outlet.

Separately, I want to note the unreasonable location of the power button (or charging connector?). No, I'm not saying that the microUSB connector is on the top. This is just the same already familiar. I mean that it is very close to the unlock button (on). When the smartphone is charging, then unlock it oh how awkward. Fortunately, it is often not necessary to charge it;)

On the left side - only the volume rocker. On the right side - generally empty. The graceful line of the case is a really good designer's delicacy

I want to go back to the display again. Excellent IPS matrix. 5 inches. FullHD resolution. So beloved by marketers, PPI here is 441.

Viewing angles - it seems to me that they are almost maximum, but there are exactly 178 degrees. Brightness - the range is large. From "almost invisible" to "burn out my eyes." Just kidding, of course. But everything is very, very good. In addition, there is no air gap between the sensor and the display - which means that you are practically touching the screen. Very nice for eyes and fingers.

Sensor - multitouch for 5 touches. This is a bit frustrating, although I don’t remember when I needed more.

The call speaker and speaker are good. The sound is pleasant. Not very loud, but not wheezing either.
I can only say about cameras that they are and everything is fine with them. Nothing outstanding.

Filling

The processor here is the 4th nuclear MediaTek MT6589T (1500 MHz) - this is a “turbocharged” processor so to speak. The standard 6589 has a frequency of 1200 MHz.
RAM 1 GB. And that's bad. With this screen, of course, just want to watch a movie, play games and enjoy the graphics system. And if the processor and graphics system here allow, then the RAM sometimes is not enough. Minimized games are closed. Fortunately, there are no problems with video.
The built-in memory is also not enough (only 4 GB), really. There is a slot for a memory card and it helps a lot. Indeed, in 2013, 4 GB can be scored with just one game.
The performance of all this in synthetic tests is as follows:

The operating system is not the latest. Android Jelly Bean (4.2.1). For those interested - rutted.
Virtually no add-ons. It's good.
The usual well done work with two SIM cards. Each can be given a name and a color.

findings

Very good display, excellent autonomy, nice design, good build. Not the coolest stuffing, not enough operational and built-in memory, an awkward look when installing an enlarged battery. The main thing is that if you choose a smartphone for everyday use, do not pursue ultra-sharp characteristics, appreciate your eyesight and save electricity - I recommend Highscreen Alpha R for purchase. Moreover, the price starts from 11,800 rubles.
If you look at competitors, it will be either dear comrades from the highest echelon, or vanes that are no longer in hand, or, alternatively, before the lunch device. The choice, as always, is yours.
