KUB-Pico Ethernet Controllers from Tehnotroniks

As shown by our recent post about the KUB-Picot / 220 controller socket, there is a keen interest in controllers of this class. Therefore, today I want to talk about the "brothers" KUB-Picot / 220 - controllers KUB-Picot / 12 and KUB-Picot / 48 .

KUB-Piko / 12, KUB-Piko / 48 blocks are the simplest, most compact and cheap models of controllers from our nomenclature. Like all other CUBs, these devices are designed to protect, control and monitor various objects. KUB-Pico / 12 and KUB-Pico / 48 are completely identical, except for the supply voltage. As it is not difficult to guess, KUB-Piko / 12 is designed for 12 Volt power supply, and KUB-Piko / 48 is designed for the traditional “communicator” power of 48 Volt and, accordingly, is intended only for telecommunication facilities.

Functional

Both controllers have 6 I / O ports, which can be configured through the device’s WEB interface to perform various functions:

The table below shows the configuration options for the ports of the controllers.

In addition to the six programmable I / O ports, the KUB-Piko / 12 and KUB-Piko / 48 have on board a standard ambient air temperature sensor. As you can see, the sensor, on the one hand, is placed on the board, that is, does not require separate installation. On the other hand, the sensor is moved outside the enclosure, which means that it measures the ambient air temperature, and not the temperature inside the enclosure, which would lead to a certain error.

And, finally, KUB-Pico has the “pinging” node of the IP address of the Dispatch Center server, which is necessary to automatically restart the hung network equipment at the site.

Power Features

KUB-Piko / 12 can work from the adapter or be connected to the already existing 12-volt power supply. This option is possible when, for example, a fire alarm system with an appropriate source is mounted on the object. A feature of the KUB-Piko / 12 block is also the possibility of supplying power not only through external terminals, but also over a loose pair of wires of a UTP-5 type cable, which is used for laying the Ethernet network. This technology is widely known by the abbreviation Passive POE (Power Over Ethernet). However, "in the classic version" such a power system is very expensive. We have found the opportunity to simplify and cheapen it.

The KUB-Pico / 48 block is intended for the communications industry. We managed to place a DC / DC converter in a very compact controller case, which allows us to power the device from any “connective” voltage - from minus 45 volts to minus 72 volts. The value of the supply voltage is measured and its value is transmitted to the Dispatch Center. This function is a matter of our special pride, since competing products of comparable size and price (!) Require the use of an external converter, for example, the DC / DC voltage converter SD-25C-12 (see photo 1), which dramatically increases the cost of the project (at least 1000 rubles), complicates the installation (another box), negates the declared miniature product, etc.

Where to apply?

With the "48-volt" version everything is clear. KUB-Piko / 48 finds its application in telecommunication facilities with the simplest requirements in terms of monitoring:

The “12-volt” version of the device will provide the same functions at general industrial facilities, in server rooms, at housing and public utilities facilities. Moreover, such a miniature and cheap controller can be used not only as universal, but even for the sake of a single function, for example, as an IP temperature sensor.

KUB-Piko / 220 Socket Controller

The KUB-Picot / 220 controller stands alone in this series .

It differs from the above-described fellow type of housing, made in the form of a plug that connects directly to the outlet of a single-phase power supply system with a voltage of 220 volts.

At the same time, the unit is equipped with a socket, which can include a device that needs to be controlled by supplying and removing power supply. As a result, in addition to a set of six programmable ports and a temperature sensor “inherited” by this device from the above-described counterparts, the KUB-Pico / 220 allows you to easily and easily manage various loads both by commands from the center and automatically, according to a predetermined algorithm. The most important special case of such control is the restarting and reloading of frozen devices.

KUB-Piko / 220 will be the best solution wherever the control function is required as the main one, because so far nothing is more convenient than the construct of a “smart” outlet, it has not been invented.

Communication channels and visualization methods

All of the above controllers require a wired Ethernet network to organize information exchange with the center. As a software that receives information from KUB-Pico, it can be used as software "Tehnotroniks.SQL" or software "KUB-Ttx" , and third-party software that supports the standard SNMP protocol.
The WEB interface built into the controllers allows you to view data from the controller and configure it in any WEB browser without installing software.

For more detailed acquaintance with the KUB-Pico controllers, we suggest you to look at our selection of video materials on this topic.

The first video gives an overview of the possibilities and features of KUB-Pico / 12 and KUB-Pico / 48. This video was filmed about 1.5 years ago, so there is no our latest development in it - KUB-Pico / 220.

The second video is devoted to examples of using the KUB-Piko / 12 and KUB-Piko / 48 controllers for solving certain monitoring tasks (organizing the fire alarm system, monitoring the climate, taking readings from metering devices, etc.).

And finally, the most recent video is the story of Arkady Yakovlevich Raskin, General Developer and Technical Director of Tekhnotroniks LLC, about the KUB-Pico controllers in the Ethernet version. Of course, the KUB-Picot / 220 controller-socket has entered this video story.
