Recently, at Indiegogo, three former authors and editors of the rather well-known Linux Format magazine launched a campaign to raise funds for a “completely different magazine” about Linux and OpenSource. As the main differences from everything that was published earlier, it is indicated:
50% of the proceeds from the magazine will be transferred to OpenSource projects. So that no one doubts that 50% will be deducted, and not 49, the editors will try to make their pricing policy as open as possible.
After 9 months from the date of publication, all materials will be available under CC-BY-SA
An important part of the magazine will be the Linux Voice podcast. Further experiments are planned with the format of the magazine, as well as its own mobile application.
Both electronic and print versions will be available. The cost of an annual subscription to the electronic version is 35 GBP (~ 58 USD, ~ 1890RUR), the printed version with delivery to any destination is 95 GBP. If you wish, you can get a subscription to an electronic or printed version of all numbers from first to last, no matter what time the journal is issued, for 300 and 600 GBP, respectively. Unfortunately, you can pay only via paypal. ')
There are 33 days left until the end of the campaign, they collected a little more than 40,000 out of 90,000. A good chance of success, I think.
From time to time in LinuxFormat, I find something interesting. These guys have quite a lot of experience, I think something interesting may turn out.
